About CatéGPT

The project was born from the idea of making the fundamental texts of the Catholic Church accessible to the general public. We are convinced that through its teachings, one can find answers to most current questions. The challenge today lies in targeting the most relevant texts that address what we seek.

Therefore, we wanted to take advantage of the enthusiasm generated by the launch of ChatGPT by attempting to replicate its functionality and narrowing its scope to the official texts of the Church.

« But how can we love someone we do not know? », pondered Benedict XVI. « It is therefore necessary to delve into the mystery of Jesus, the truth of His thoughts resonating in the Gospel and in the Magisterium of the Church. Without substantial formation, how will it be possible to give reasons for believing to your contemporaries, often full of questions about life, themselves, the Christian faith, and the Church? »

Why the name CatéGPT?

CatéGPT seeks to playfully convey Catholic teaching while striving to remain as faithful as possible to the texts of the Catholic Church, presenting access to this tool in the form of a conversation. To achieve this, a significant portion of the answers is drawn from the Catechism of the Catholic Church (CCC), while also taking inspiration from the functioning of ChatGPT by utilizing the OpenAI library. The best way to express these two aspects was to name this tool CatéGPT.

Our identity

Based on the artificial intelligence technology used by ChatGPT, CatéGPT seeks to recreate Catholic teaching in an entertaining way, trying to be as faithful as possible to the Church's Magisterium and Sacred Scripture.

Through our logo we have tried to best express the mission of this project: to use the latest technologies to rediscover the fundamental texts of the Catholic religion. Technology is a means of grasping the keys to the Kingdom of Heaven, entrusted to Saint Peter and his successors.

« Catholic education at your fingertips, artificial intelligence at the service of the Church »

What are the sources used by CatéGPT?

CatéGPT relies solely on the vast database represented by the Vatican website. In addition to all the official texts of successive popes, we have access to the entirety of the Bible, the Catechism of the Catholic Church (CCC), texts from the Councils, the Compendium of the Social Doctrine of the Church, and more.

By choosing to limit the scope of CatéGPT, we hope to ensure a certain reliability in the robot's responses.
